Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument

W Broadway & Ripley Ave
Mountainair, NM 87036
(505) 847-2585

Description:

Featuring three historic sites just a short drive away from the main visitors center, Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument contains some fascinating evidence of the early contact that took place between Pueblo Indians and Spanish settlers. Four different missions, constructed during the 17th century, offer an interesting look at the architectural styles of the age. The churches, located at Quarai, Abó, Gran Quivira and Las Humanas each have distinct styles and features, best learned about at the visitor center in Mountainair. Start at the visitor center in Mountainair; the sites surround this small town, located to the north, west and south, and are close enough that all three could easily be seen in a day.
